Getting a Tattoo as a Tourist in Cebu: The Complete First-Timer's Guide
Cebu is one of Southeast Asia's top travel destinations, turquoise water, whale sharks in Oslob, the oldest street in the Philippines, and some of the best food you'll eat in your life. It's also quietly becoming one of the best places in the region to get tattooed.
If you're visiting and considering coming home with more than a tan, here's what you need to know.
Can I Get a Tattoo as a Tourist in Cebu?
Absolutely. Many of our clients fly in specifically to get tattooed, or add a session to an existing Cebu trip. The process is the same whether you're local or international, book in advance, arrive for your consultation, and leave with something permanent.
How Far in Advance Should I Book?
For smaller pieces, one to two weeks notice is usually enough. For larger custom pieces, four weeks or more is better, your artist needs time to design before your session. If you have a specific artist in mind, check their availability early. Our most requested artists book out fast.
Send your booking request as soon as your travel dates are confirmed. Include your arrival and departure dates so we can find a slot that works with your schedule.
What Should I Bring to My Session?
- Reference images, screenshots, photos, links to work you like
- Notes on placement and size (photo of the body area helps)
- A full meal beforehand,do not come hungry
- Water and a light snack for longer sessions
- Comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being tattooed
What About Aftercare While Traveling?
This is the part most tourist clients underestimate. A fresh tattoo needs to be kept clean, moisturized, and out of direct sun for the first two weeks. That means:
- No swimming, ocean, pool, or otherwise, for at least two weeks
- No direct sun on the fresh piece (cover it or stay in the shade)
- Clean it gently twice a day with unscented soap
- Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer
If you're staying in Cebu for a few more days after your session, you're in good hands. If you're flying out the same day or next morning, get a smaller piece that heals faster, and pack your aftercare supplies.
How Much Does a Tattoo Cost in Cebu?
Pricing depends on size, complexity, and the artist. Small minimalist pieces start from around PHP 1,500–2,500. Medium custom work typically runs PHP 4,000–8,000. Large or full-day sessions vary by artist. All pricing is discussed and confirmed before your session starts,no surprises.
Is It Safe?
At a reputable studio, yes. Look for a shop that uses single-use needles opened in front of you, wears gloves throughout, and sterilizes all equipment between clients. At Infamous Ink, we walk every client through our setup before we begin. Your safety isn't an assumption,it's a standard.
